Al came home from Duke Medical Center on Monday, May 5th. Coming off the epidural after the surgery was tough, and he had a day of intense discomfort that was tough to manage. Sunday his white blood cell count was a little too high for the doctor to release him to go home but Monday morning he was out of bed, showered and ready when the medical team agreed he was well enough to leave.
He came home Monday afternoon and has really enjoyed being able to sit outside, walk around more, and be with his family. Al's pain is at manageable levels with Tylenol right now and he is healing up nicely from the surgery. He got a new recliner for his recovery and he is happy to spend plenty of time in it!
His next appointment is on Thursday at Duke to follow up lab work, CT scan and meet with the medical team.
Thank you all for your prayers and love. Please pray for deep rest and recovery for Al and Susan as they both adjust to their new normal and that Al would continue to be a good patient and use good judgment as he is trusted to be more independent.

I am feeling better each day!
Very little pain..
Vitals all in line..
Eating small servings with no issues…
Grateful for folks lifting me up!!
